The Dirt on Ninth Grave

The Dirt on Ninth Grave - Darynda Jones Charley has lost her memory, and finds herself waiting tables at a diner while trying to avoid all the dead people that for some reason are coming to her for help. With her "new friend" Cookie, and her insanely hot "crush" Reyes, she is starting to feel like they may know more about her past life and lost memory than they are letting on.

With the end of book 8, it felt like things were really heating up, rushing to the final show down. It is totally understandable how Charley could lose her memory with all the pain of book 8, but this book ended up feeling like a placeholder. There were very few revelations, and the revelations that are there are becoming more and more complex and convoluted that it is beginning to get confusing. You need a summary of what has happened to date to understand the significance of the new revelations. I am hoping that this series doesn't pull a Stephanie Plum (One For the Money by Janet Evanovich) and get 20 books in with no end in sight.

Still, at the end of the day, I love Charley and her wit and humor, and I love that Reyes has her back at every turn. Hottest line in the book: "I've loved you for a thousand years." "I've loved you for a thousand and one..."
